EGR Removal - 2.0 TDI CR

Featured Replies

My friend has a 2013 Passat Estate with the 140 bhp CR diesel engine.

He's got EGR problems.

Does anyone know how to remove and clean the EGR on these engines?  Is there a guide on here (I'm assuming it's same as some octavia engines)?

Cheers

Has he had the emissions recall carried out? This is well documented to contribute towards premature DPF, EGR and other exhaust / fuel system components.

As a result Skoda have put in place a 'trust building measure' and will replace faulty EGR's on cars that have been recalled...

Not sure if VW do the same but it would be worth pursuing. This makes for interesting reading...

As Passat is more similar to Superb than Octavia then maybe it's different for that but for common rail Octavia accessing that bloody device is rather hard. People complain about that.

If your friend isn't very concerned about annoying laws and he's not an environment freak then maybe he should think about mapping that thing out? Bring the car to a professional, attach to a computer, do things and that's it - no problems with EGR anymore. No need for taking it out.

IIRC the engines are mounted differently in the Passat chassis to that of the Golf that the Octavia is based on so the EGR is liable to be in a different location.
