2008 Octavia Scout ABS/ESP fault – Please help :)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently when I was spinning wheels in the snow, I got a fault up for the ABS  – both lights on, and handbrake light flashing. It appears I have no traction control and no ABS.

Had it code read, and its giving a 01130 008 Implausible Signal. I've checked the fuses in the side of the dash, and by the battery, and all seem fine. Any ideas what I should be looking at next, or is this a case that it needs a new ABS module?

Thanks

Adam

Sounds like a new electronics control module is needed, unless you can trace the fault to the wiring...

01130 - ABS Operation: Implausible Signal

Possible Causes:

  • Fuse(s) faulty
  • Modifications/Retrofits incompatible
  • Wiring from/to Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) faultyElectrical Interference from External Sources
  • High Frequency Radiation (e.g. non-insulated Ignition Cable)
  • Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) faulty

Possible Solutions:

  • Check Fuse(s)
  • Check Vehicle for Modifications/Retrofits
  • Temporarily remove Modifications/Retrofits (including Wiring)
  • Check Wiring from/to Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)
  • Check Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)

Special Notes:

This Fault Code can only be cleared after performing a Test Drive above 20 km/h (13 mph).

Double check it isn't this 'very' common issue on older MkII Octavia's.

I suffered this issue 2 days before my 3 year warranty ran out on our 2008 Octavia Scout, Skoda paid in full, however it is also well documented that they've covered, or at least contributed towards the repair costs on cars well out of warranty...

Good luck!

My 2008 L&K has just popped up with this 01130 fault. Local mechanic cleared it, but came back about 20 miles later. Any thoughts, and if it's a new module does anyone know if it's an easy local mechanic fix or is it a dealer job, and thereofre how much are they likely to spoon me for?? 🤔

Would the G201 failure show up independently, and therefore would it be obvious and hard not to see at the same time as the 01130?

Was literally the day I was taking it in for it's MOT... should have gone the day before! 🙃

You don't need a complete ABS pump now, VAG finally released a repair kit. Any VAG specialist worth their salt will know of it. You're talking a few hundred pounds, fitted.
