Viezu maps on mk1 VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

ive got the chance to get my 03 VRS mapped by my local Viezu supplier but not really heard of them before. Has anyone used these maps in the 1.8T engine, and if so how has it performed? Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks

Never heard of them!  Did you get it done?

Getting it done in the morning so I’ll post how it goes.

Cool.  Hopefully if all goes well itll give it a new lease of life, well worth doing if the map is good

So I’ve had the map done and what a difference it makes to the performance. However in finding I can only drive it flat out as if I drive normal it feels like it is missing. I do have a slight split in one of the oil breather pipes but Themis didn’t cause performance issues before the map. Does anyone know if what I’m experiencing is likely to be a bad map or is it that the increased boost etc is now making the split pipe become an issue?

A remap will amplify any small fault that may not have been noticable before the map. A split breather pipe will mess with your fuel trims in quite a large way on a mapped car, so you should cure all your vacuum leaks now so that the car can interpret it's sensor readings correctly.

I'm surprised the mapper mapped the car knowing that you were getting unmetered air into the system, as it would affect his settings, unless he was just installing a generic map.

It is difficult to comment on the map while you have an issue that you know of with your car.

How much did they charge for the map ?

Just replace the split hose and all should be well its worth investing in some silicone boost and breather hoses they are relativley cheap, the originals will be old and worn you may have a boost leak that you cant see especially the hose that connects to the pancake pipe hidden behind the d/s/f wheel the seals go on these.

I had a decent cash deal on it due to a friend referring me so I had it for £175 instead of £280. It makes a massive difference though (when it runs well). That’s a good idea on the breather and boost pipes, as I have a feeling I may have an air leak in the boost pipe somewhere too as every now and then I seem to have very little boost and the car almost feels like a NA car rather than a turbo.

Any my recommendations on best places to get the silicone breather and boost pipes from?

I got mine from creation motorsport direct on there website or they are on ebay or just search ebay for AUQ 1.8t boost hoses or breather hoses there are lots of companies doing them now.

Ah perfect thanks. Looking on google is a minefield sometimes. I did just order one breather pipe from the main dealer for £52, so hopefully this will work out more cost effective

So I found the “split” that main dealer was talking about. It’s only being held together by about 1/4 of the pipe. Other than the silicone hoses spoken about previously, is there anywhere else I can get one of these from other than payin nearly £60 from the main dealers. 0BF447D2-2BEF-46A5-9135-FFEADDE2F818.thumb.jpeg.ece40e562e21ec16a03c14608f405afc.jpeg6CB3A6C9-8AA4-431B-8626-1B2B79325451.thumb.jpeg.28e271ebe297c39d3e42d5b1130d92f2.jpeg

Viezu used to be Chipped UK.

Forge Make a replacement for that split hose in the above pic.

Perfect thanks. I’ll have a butchers now.

Would you you know if this could also be contributing to a loss of boost from time to time or is that likely to be something more like the n75?

A few have recommended there hoses now so think that’s the that I’m going to go for. First time for me having a 1.8t so still trying to work out what works and what doesn’t.

Thanks for for the tip on the recirculating Valve vs atmospheric. I’ll see how it performs after I change the hose and then replace if needed.

thanks

Please don’t shoot me down with this query, but my new pipe isn’t coming until the end of the week so I’ll need to do a temporary repair so I can still drive the car for short journeys until then.

So Will duct tape be ok for a few miles a day or is here any other recommendations I can consider?

Id also personally put a standard OEM recirc valve back on.  Less hassle

Yeah someone else mentioned that yesterday, so going to get this pipe sorted now and then I think I’ll change it.  Are the recirc valves quieter? I got to say I’m not a massive fan of the loud dump valve on it so anything quieter would also be a bonus.

Ive been looking into the forge 007 ones as I’ve read good reviews.

An OEM one is fine - cheaper and it needs no maintenance like the Forge

Thanks mate. just looking through the stuff the guy gave with the car and came across this one. Is it what I need it do I still need to get a new one? Looks a bit worse for wear but hopefully still fully functional AFE69079-F960-4BCF-81AA-724B641B5D8C.thumb.jpeg.a670be2d0279aa92a97d0350d5ccf75f.jpegAFE69079-F960-4BCF-81AA-724B641B5D8C.thumb.jpeg.a670be2d0279aa92a97d0350d5ccf75f.jpeg1980C62D-A9FD-4393-B8BC-375A865F466E.thumb.jpeg.738fffc41472bebc03707283ba7881f2.jpeg

That's another atmospheric valve so also no good. A recirc valve has connections for two hoses, an inlet and an outlet.

The manangement for the 1.8t expects the dumped air to go back into the system, as the MAF has already accounted for it, so if it's dumped to atmosphere, the computer doesn't know where it's gone so effectively thinks that there is a boost leak.

Ah right that makes perfect sense to the issues I’ve been getting. Every now and then my turbo hasn’t been boosting properly so I’m hoping this is what’s causing it. Thanks for all your help anyway.

I can see this getting expensive. Keep it stock, that map is now going to cost more than the original deal ! Plus it now runs worse unless you’re at full tilt

Looks like it’s all sorted now. New breather pipe and recirc dv and it’s runnin like a dream.

What a difference fair play
