2008 RS instrument cluster and immobilizer dead

Featured Replies

Hi!

I have my trusty (up until now) 2008 Octavia RS.

I'm in the process of moving to a new home, and then...

When I put on ignition, instrument cluster remains dark, no light, instrument dials or lamps are lit/working. Also the car starts, but dies after 1-2 sek (No OK signal from the immobilizer is sent to the ECM).

I run a VCDS diagnosis (attached), and I found that instrument cluster and Immobilizer is not responding (Same unit)

Since most of my tools are already at the new house, I could only do some basic checks with an old voltmeter, so without any load test, there are ground and 12V (2 of them) to the connector of the instrument cluster. I have checked for pushouts in the cluster connector, but I could not find from the wiring diagram from ERWIN, what is activating the cluster.

I have checked all fuses in the engine and interior fuse boxes, and any connectors accessible from the removed instrument cluster, lower dash panel and steering column panels.

Also tried both keys, to disconnect the battery for some time and delete all DTC (Desperate atm :) ) in case that would help.

I tried to search for any similar issues, and I found some MKI, but no MKII with the same problem. I checked out whatever I could find for MKI that was the same.

Anyone had the same problem, and a solution?

Thanks for any advice.
