Locking issues ??

Featured Replies

Whilst this doesn't happen often it's still a bug bear

like many I lock the car and hold the lock button down until the mirrors retract into the car, once these ( mirrors ) start moving towards the car I release the button and go indoors

however

occassionally I return to the car and find all four windows open sometimes fully ( major concern ) sometimes just an inch or so ( got four wet seats this morning though )

I can't get this to happen when I stand and watch the locking procedure

any thoughts please ?

This can happen if the keys are in your pocket and the unlock button gets held down, i have had it happen several times, i see you have an Elegance, it should have a rain/light sensor so you can activate rain closing with VCDS, i did this on mine and it works well, I've no idea why its not switchd on by default.

The default setting is set to "off" at the factory, although you can set it to "on" using the menu in the MAXIDOT menu if you have an Multi Function Steering Wheel, if not then yep the only way is by VCDS.

Hi, thanks

yes it's the elegance but no maxidot ( must have been a tick box option although otherwise the car does seem ' up ' on spec ! )

so does the rain sensor close the windows even if the car's park up ignition ' off '

if so it's got to be worth sourcing VCDS

( not sure about the ' accidentally ' push button it's happened when I've hung the keys away ( I think ) and wouldn't the car be ' unlocked ' too ? another thing to check )

I believe it does, but so far on both my Octy's i have not tried it, as both the area i work and live in making sure all windows are up and doors are locked has become second nature.

Yes, the rain sensor will the close the windows with ignition off, thats what its designed to do,

No, if you unlock the car and don't open the door it will relock after  ~2 minutes, if the button ws held so the windows were opened they will remain open.

As you dont have maxidot you will need to find somebody with VCDS,

Once again thank you both, I'll have a punt at finding a local VCDS owner

your help has been useful and much appreciated

Once activated via the VCDS, in order to really work you will need to leave the stalk in the first position (one click up)  I mean in the auto function, not in zero, .

That is when it will work in case of open windows and rain occurring.
