As mentioned in a previous post, here is the content of the reversing camera kit.  Also shown with the 634C wiring loom for the estate.  Hopefully this is of help to anyone considering doing a self install.

A few questions for you...

  1. Where did you get the kit from?
  2. How much was it?
  3. Have you fitted it?
  4. If you have fitted it, was it easy/hard?
  5. How did you get it activated?

  1. Kit came from TPS, official VAG parts supply
  2. I got it discounted via a contact.  I think the regular price is something like 260 for the camera and 18 for the additional wiring harness
  3. No, after much deliberation decided it would be better dealer fit due to time and space problems, power tailgate installed, recommended disassembly of the connectors, etc
  4. Check the install steps, there are notes about bending down the headliner, removing rear seats, removing tail lift motor, etc.   Each add complexity and time to install and its easy to see why its a 3hr dealer fit time.
  5. Activation is shown on another posting in the forum.

Thanks for that nodigital. I think I'll get a quote from my dealer. I can manage without a rear view camera but having had one on the last car I owned, I found it incredibly useful and I miss it, especially when hitching up the caravan.

How much does it cost to fit it? £500+ ?

Off topic but . .

Reminds me of the kit for the rear wash wipe I fitted to a Sierra many years ago.  Kit included the fuse carrier which went into the fuse box into the engine compartment and had about 20 feet of cable attached, only problem was you could not get the fuse carrier up through the bottom of the fuse box so there was 20 feet of taped cables to feed through 2 right angled bends under the fuse box and into the footwell, after that there was loads of trim to take out and replace - time consuming but relatively easy.

Does this retro-fit have the washer spray like the standard one? Just curious.

No washer spray nozzle on this version.

Note that the 'A' variation of the camera is applicable for vehicles of MY17 an older.   As I've found out to my (somewhat now considerable) cost, my MY18 will only code and work with 'H' variant, ie the 3V0-054-634H   Ensure you verify the applicability of the type for your vehicle with your dealer and do not take the Skoda Accessory brochure as a guide!

DM Kieth quoted 369.00 for three hour fit plus two hour calibration.

There is no need to do the calibration. I had the "highline" camera fitted to my Superb Combi (Estate). It also had the "no calibration error", but everythig worked just fine. Wouldn´t pay two hours to remove that error.

An update to the note on compatibility.

MY18 vehicles will only work with camera 3V0-827-566H.   The camera included in the 3V0 054 634A kit is not compatible and will not code with MY18 vehicles.   Retrofitting to a MY18 or later, the camera, vehicle and boot/hatch harnesses must be purchased separately.   Notes on Skoda parts system for the 634A kit say its applicable to all from 2016 however there is a further note that state 'additional parts are required' (Ie, the other camera) for MY18, effectively making it an extremely expensive wiring harness.

As a general rule, and in particular to this subject, before purchasing, verify the availability and applicability of the parts by quoting your model year and vehicle registration/VIN, explicitly asking what parts are required whether the parts are suitable for you particular model and build year.   Ask that the supplier reads out all of the notes about the product suitability, not just the summary, and again verify compatibility.  Without the extensive verification of compatibility with a Skoda authorised dealer before purchase, any compatibility issues will not be addressed by Skoda or the dealer network leaving you out of pocket to correct.

Does anyone know what the part number is for the loom from the trunk lid to the head unit?

I have 3V0 054 634C which is the loom in the trunk lid but i cannot get the other loom part number. The other part number 3v0 054 634A is the loom and camera.

I dont need the camera though

I have a spare loom for sale if youre interested :) Its for a kodiaq so slightly longer, but exactly the same, just means wires need tucking somewhere.
