Batteries ?

Featured Replies

Hello all I'm just wondering how long you've had your battery in your skoda, mine is a 2002 plate and still got the original battery !! Anyone else in a similar situation ??

Strange question I know but I think 16 years old is pretty dam good for a battery

I replaced mine a few years back just to be on the safe side!

I replaced the original battery in mine at the end of last year, so it was 15 years and 170+k miles old at the time.

It hadn't actually died but it was sometimes a little slow turning over on cold mornings so I replaced it before the winter just in case.

The original battery was a Varta and I replaced it with another Varta but higher spec than the original.

Unfortunately I have no idea how old or young my battery is, my car is 17 years old but I have only had it a short while.

I did however have some "odd behaviour".  The battery went flat while sitting in the car park with the engine idling.

Admittedly I had lots of electrics on; radio, heated window, aircon, phone charger. ... I had to get a jump, drove it home fine.  I took the terminals off, cleaned them up and put them back on nice and tight with with a smearof dialectric grease.

Seems ok again but I am paranoid now. ... I run the engine with all the electrics off for about a minute at the end of every journey now.  Just to help my now ailing battery along a bit. Lol.
