Yet another flat battery...

Afternoon all,

I've been working away a lot recently so haven't been using the car much, a week abroad followed by a week at home for the last 5 weeks. Every time I've come back the battery has had enough charge to open the doors and liminate the dash but not enough to turn the engine over. I've been through the common causes but so far no improvement. The battery is an 18 month old optima yellow top that so far has checked out well, charging system has also checked out well. glove box light & boot lights have been removed & brake switch has been replaced.

I've read a lot about the CAN gateway not going to sleep if the radio has been upgraded (i upgraded to a columbus about 2 years ago). Would someone be good enough to cast an eye over my VCDS scan and let me know if they spot any part number or coding issues please...

Good stuff thank you. I've read a lot about mis-coded items that can cause battery drain issues, is there anything I should be looking out for?

Nothing there is miscoded by the look of things. It could still be the Columbus, but you'll need to be into measuring current draw and pulling fuses etc. to determine what (if anything) is causing a drain.

Does your car smell faintly mouldy at all?

Not sure of relevancy to the mk2, but on my mk1 I recently noted water ingress down through my bonnet release cable. This ended up leaking into my lightswitch which shorted it out.

You could see a really faint bulb glow/flicker but the lights were not registering as on most of the time.

You could try connecting a solar charger as the battery will drain over time (unless you disconnected it) by the alarm etc.

I use one for similar reasons and have not failed to start the car as yet. I give it an external full charge if i know freezing weather is likely.

Front assist on my 2020 dsg sel superb works sometimes. I've cleaned the sensor area and the top of the windscreen as I believe there is a camera that the front assist uses. Means auto cruise control won't work. Any ideas?

Hi. I've just had the touchscreen replaced and happy to say everything is all working again with the exception of the clock which is stuck at 12:00. The second hand is still working though. The time on the dashboard behind the steering wheel is working fine and can be adjusted. Can anyone please advise me ho to adjust the clock on the touchscreen when it is in standby mode? Many thanks.

Hi all, Working today on a friends 2001 Octavia. Problem was the accelerator stopped working, there is no response at all when the accelerator is pressed no revs etc and EPC light on. He updated he has had a new throttle body sensor and accelerator pedal unit fitted but this made no change. The car starts and is good condition for the age. SO I scanned it with VCDS Lite full prog and re set the throttle (unit 060 on vcds) so its correct, We also replaced the accelerator

2008 Octy 1.9Tdi PD 1Z5 BXE oil leak. I've removed the plastic pan, cleaned everything up and inspected for wet areas. The leak doesn't appear to come from the rear or bottom of the engine, or from the left hand side of the engine (fuel filter side). The tandem pump at the top doesn't appear to be wet. The leak appears to be higher up the engine and just below the oil filter housing where it does seem quite wet. The oil filter housing isn't leaking (from the top, at least). I know how diff

Hi all, recently bought a 2016 Fabia 1.2tsi with 1 key and it's the push button start, had 2 mobile locksmiths out and both have the same problem, they can cut and programme the keys so it locks and unlocks and will start the car but the new key they cut will only start the car if held right up to the button and then you get the dreaded "key not found" warning and noise,the original key works fine so I can't see that it's a car fault and I can put up with holding the spare key up to the switch a
