Scout front brakes - bigger disc options

Featured Replies

Im looking at doing all round discs and pads on my Scout in the near future. Are there any simple upgrades for bigger brakes up front (as in swapping calliper carriers out for larger carriers to allow bigger discs to be fitted)?

On my old Vectra GSI you could do it and it allowed 288mm brakes to be swapped out to 308mm - not much but every little helps :D

Almost certainly. You could fit the 340mm(?) discs from the pre-FL 230, FL 245 or Golf R.

Bear in mind you will need alloys that clear them, i.e. probably minimum 18".

Thanks .... Trouble is I don't want to go to 18"s, especially after buying a 2nd set of 17"s for summer tyres

Skoda 17's fit nicely over 340 fronts with either the TRW calipers off the vRS or even the earlier ATE calipers off the Golf R32/SuperbV6

and 310 rears fit well too although you will need bits like the dust shields from the golf 7R or Audi quattro as they are the only ones with those brakes and 4x4

I changed my 312mm front brakes to 340mm.

I have 18" Gemini's but 17" alloys will fit
