HID/LED Headlight Upgrade

Featured Replies

So, I recently bought a Fabia SE L, it has projector headlights, and LED sides, but only has horrendous traditional dipped/main beam.

I purchased a HID kit, error free, but it looks like I’ll need some form of adaptor to make the dipped beam fit into the strange twist/lock mechanism.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I had a quick look, but couldn’t see anything.

You can only fit an HID bulb to a car if it already has them.

Any car with HID bulbs needs to have a headlamp washing system and a self leveling system to be legal.

This will fail an MOT if the car does not have these systems fitted.

Most people have upgraded to the Osram Nightbraker bulbs, including myself.

My car has the regular headlights (it's an SE), but I fitted Philips bulbs. I've heard that the Osram ones and the Philips ones are both pretty similar in terms of performance, and they're definitely a good improvement over the stock ones. You can pick them up on Amazon pretty cheaply, in both H4 and H7 variants for the different headlamp units, and they are 100% legal without any issues. I'd go with one of those options rather than risk it with the HID ones.

Cheers for the replies. I’ve decided to ignore everything everyone has said and after a little head scratching, I now how LED bulbs fitted. Decent cut off, because of the projector system.

No washers in the bumper, but my cars are cleaned twice a week.

Picked up some Octavia headlights with factory fit xenons, and self levellers. Planning on ******ising them in an effort to make it look more OEM.
