Featured Replies

Hi everyone, a big thank you in advance for any help I may receive for this, I'm in the process of changing the standard interior lighting in my octy vrs to LEDs, I've managed to get the front and rear interior lights done and also the boot lights, I tried to do the door card/ glove box and number plate lights but have realized they are different size bulbs to what I've used in the interior roof and boot lights, could anybody place point me in the right direction to were a could buy the required led bulbs for the door card, glove box and number plate lights please, again, thanks for any help in advance

I used an eBay seller called fizzmo. They were recommended by a lot of people on here. The bulbs have the built in resistors to prevent bulb warnings. However, I ordered quite a few including side light bulbs and I've found them a bit hit and miss to be honest. The side light bulbs were fine for about a month then started flickering for no reason. As did one of the interior bulbs. I ended up putting the original side light bulbs back in. Strangely though, several different bulbs flickered in the rear interior unit but the front interior bulbs have been perfect as has the boot ones and puddle lights. Strange.

I also fitted LED bulbs in the rear number plate lights but again just started flickering.

Thanks, it's the glove box and door card bulbs I need, they are a different size to the one used in the boot and interior lights, hope someone else can shed some light on this for me, no pun intended haha

When I don't my interior lights they also flicker from time to time so don't think it's anything to worry about

I've already pointed the way. I used a seller called fizzmo on eBay. As for the different size, just measure your original bulb in mm. They are the cylinder type bulbs iirc but can't remember the exact size. The sellers list different types and sizes of bulbs.

Ok thanks

Buy cheap buy twice, or thrice even.

I put Philips w5w LEDs in the side lights, interior and the puddle lights about 3 years ago. Took them with me as I changed cars, and still going strong.

For the festoon type lights, I got some Osrams (make sure you get the right length:

For the number plate lights I got something like these:

.....worked way better than changing the bulb for LED

Yes, not cheap, but also no flicker problems either. The Philips w5w have very good diffusers on them, so don't suffer the "patchiness" of most others. (They work very very well in BMW E36 sidelights)

Thanks is alot yous this is very helpful, the one I've took out of the glove box is 28 mm long, do yous know if they go down as short as that?  Thanks again

Cheapy ones do (ebay search)

Osram seem to get down to 31mm, so it may be possible to squeeze one of the those in, depending on the amount of wiggle room is in there.
