Grabby Clutch/Crunching

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Just joined the site. Bought an Octavia last week - very happy with it. When I test drove it I noticed the clutch was 'grabbing' very quickly - the tiniest release of the clutch pedal and it engaged... also it was quite difficult getting it into first and second and it was crunching several times. The mechanic told me he was bleeding the clutch and that should solve the problem. I picked it up yesterday and have found that the problem still exists. Told the mechanic and he says that the clutch slave cylinder will probably be replaced. Has anyone had this problem? I dont quite understand whats going on - if the slave cylinder is not working correctly where is the hydraulic fluid going? If this is replaced, will the gear crunching go away? I assume that the clutch isnt fully disengaging properly...

Cheers!

the clutch slave cylinder is fairly common, mines been done :)

if it still does it afterwards then your clutch is fubar i think
