Hi all,

 

ive got a Mk2 vrs estate with maxidot, bolero and MDI. The cable that comes is the old Apple one, for the iPhone 4 and older. I can see you buy the MDI cable with the newer lightning connector but can’t seem to find out if I will get the same functionality. 

 

Ive tried an old iPad plugged in with the old adapter and have full steering wheel function and maxi dot display. 

 

Has as anyone got a recent iPhone working via MDI?

Doesn't work as far as I know... My Superb Mk2 (2015) has the columbus and MDI (I have an iPhone 7Plus), and I always get a "this accessory cannot be used" message on my phone when I plug it in.  It DOES allow it to charge though.  On an iPhone 7, can you bluetooth to the car (leaving the phone plugged in and charging), you can then use music (and the steering wheel controls to skip etc).

Think I’ll have to go Bluetooth route then. Means a slightly larger investment than a £20 cable though. Unless I can find a Bluetooth module compatible with Swing. I made a mistake, I have swing not bolero. I wish...

Does the Swing not have a SD card slot in it? (I don't know - never used one)

Nope. It’s aux and MDI. I’ve heard it can Bluetooth buts needs the under seat module. If anyone on here knows a part number I’d appreciate it
