Assy 3's ordered

Featured Replies

Have I made the right choice for my diesel vrs??? I hope so!

Either way, I can't wait to get rid of the potenzas!!! Awful tyres, no grip in the wet, not much more in the dry either.

Just noticed today aswell that there was quiet a big gouge in the alloy, but not in a place you could kerb. Between the trye and alloy. I asked my local Skoda dealer to swap the tyres front to rear at the last service and inassumed theybwpuld just swap the wheels over. Clearly not. Anyway they have offered to have it repaired when it has the tyres done at thier cost. Result!

They are supppsed to be very good. Side note, I need to replace my Michelin PS4’s as the inner edges are knackered. Do you mind me asking where you got them from and how much they were? I cannot justify the prices of the Michelin’s for a set of 4 (wanna change the cheap nasty tyres on the back too).

Tyres on the drive are £92 a corner fitted ATM on the Assymetric 3 but have a £30 Amazon gift card promotion if you buy 2 or £60 if you buy 4.

Blackcircles seem to be best on the PS4 at about £97 fitted per corner with a discount code if you buy 2 or £95 a corner if you buy 4.

Can you guess I'm due tyres soon :tongueout:

They are good prices thanks. I wasn’t expecting to have to change the tyres so soon but the front pair are almost dangerous on the inner edge to the point I have done my weekly commute since finding that out (during cleaning the car last week) in either the Citigo when my other half doesn’t need it (no cruise control, boo!!) or the Mercedes (powerrrrrrrr, oooh, is that the fuel consumption? Maybe I’ll just look at the temperature, or the date instead :blush). Can’t keep it up forever haha.

@JamiePvrs The F1 Asymmetric 3 is a good tyre; it's almost definitely better than the Potenza in all areas and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I had planned to buy them for mine soon, but the price has crept up whilst the PS4 price has crept down. I think it's generally accepted the PS4 is a better tyre now but neither are a bad choice :)

How long have they lasted? How worn is the inner edge compared to the rest of the tyre? Might be worth getting the alignment checked if they are noticeably worn on the inner edge. My Continental Sport Contact 5 have worn very evenly and have seen me through just over 25k.

Oh the alignment must be way off, I will have that done as I always do when fitting tyres. I have no idea how long they have lasted, they were measured at 4mm in December when the car was purchased and I measured the middle at 2.3 mm the other day. They have done just under 10k with me since December. They are a very good tyre, but even at £95 per corner fitted that’s £380. The Assy 3 with £60 Amazon voucher makes it effectively £308 fitted, so a £72 saving. Are they good enough to warrant the difference? I have Goldway Eco-Blue tyres on the back and they were brand new when I bought the car. I’ve never heard of them and they are phenomenally loud if nothing else. Riles my OCD to consider changing tyres and not get 4 matching ones. Have Uniroyal RS3’s on the Merc which are a very nice tyre, but are pretty midrange whereas the Goodyear’s are properly decent tyres. My wheels are ruined as well which is annoying, but I can’t find a better set so looks like it’s gunna be £308 for the tyres and then £300 or so to have the wheels refurbished down the line :( Will be worth it though, I’m sure :)

The Gift card makes the Goodyears a good deal - I'm going to say the PS4 is probably not £72 noticeably better in typical usage. The thing with the PS4 is that they supposedly last longer than other stuff. If that's true, then it may claw back some of the price gap.

10k from 4mm to 2mm is pretty good going on your existing ones!

Yeah, it does. Makes about 25k odd miles all in if you extrapolate that data over new tyres at just over 7mm to 1.6mm legal depth. I’m a bit torn over which to go for. Will mull it over overnight and decide in the morning.

I think the Goodyear gift card is just till the end of the month.....

The Assy 3's are great tyres, just replaced the Mich Pilot Super Sports that came with the car (they are about £200 each in 19"!) and am not disappointed.

End of May the offer is running until. Either way, I need the tyres replacing in the next week so I’d be booking them for fitting Monday. TOTD don’t cover where I live, but they cover the university I am studying with. Luck would have it that I am there on Monday for a meeting, so I’ll have them done then. Glad you are happy with them, I have had good experiences with Goodyear tyres before, so I am leaning in that direction.

love my GY Eagle F1 AS3's  so much better than the terrible Kumhos that skoda fitted.

Sandicliffe Skoda. £100 A corner all in and they will repair the damage they caused last time.

Definitely my next tyre choice will be PS4's, really want to try them out but still got 5-6mm of tread left all round, its like I want to burn out my current tyres just so I can get the PS4's :giggle: GY Eagle F1 AS3 would be my next choice even thou I've been very happy with my current Nokian weatherproof's B)
