Recommend a car vac please

Featured Replies

Sadly I don't have power where I park and clean my car, so I need a vac that plugs into the 12v socket. I currently have a cheapo Argos wet/dry vac that is on its last legs. Any recommendations for a replacement?

Promise the Mrs that you'll vacuum the house if she buys you a Dyson V6 or V8 or whatever...

Likewise and it does the job but isn't massively powerful so when I need to do a proper clean I get our old household vacuum out of a cupboard (the wife won;t let me use the new miele but then it would probably suck the covers off the seats it's that powerful!)

So based on recommendations here (thanks) I bought this at the weekend.

It's significantly better than the one it replaced. As noticed by Skomaz above it won't remove half a field if you've been off-roading, but for the light dirt I pick up it's more than adequate. The nozzle head it quite clever in that the brush part is integral, meaning you just rotate it 180 degrees to move from carpet to seats. There is also a crevice tool (I probably would have preferred it to be thinner, but still pretty usable), so it will do everything you need it to. The only issue I identified is that the 12v power connector is a bit temperamental. I moved the vac a couple of times and it cut out. Rotating the connector brought it back to life no problem. It happened with the front and rear 12v socket so it may be a fault on my vac - will keep using it and if it becomes more of an issue I will return it and get a replacement unit. But all things considered, well worth the money for what I need it to do. And it comes with a handy drawstring storage bag which is held nicely by the hooks in the boot by the rear seats so doesn't slide about and is always there when I need it. At £45 it isn't the cheapest out there, but is recommended either if you don't have mains power available, or for a quick spruce-up away from home.

I normally use a Nilfisk Multi 30T wet & dry vacuum when doing the interior, however, today I had to rely on the trusty services of my 12v Dustbuster when, typically, it decided to pour it down after I had just visited the local recycling centre.

Job done, and more importantly, I wasn't electrocuted.

hi there personally I would get myself a 12v 24v inverter like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/FOVAL-Inverter-Converter-iPhone-sized-charging/dp/B01LVXINUK/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1528505959&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=12v+24v+inverter&dpPl=1&dpID=51B9XATUW-L&ref=plSrch

then get this brilliant vacuum from screwfix, it's wet and dry and if you take the hose off the front and put it into the back of it you get a very powerful blower, I've used mine for everything like inflating/deflating 12ft paddling pool. blowing the leaves and the snow off the driveway. emptying the washing machine full of water when it packed up (twice) and blowing out the water from mirrors/roof  strips after washing the cars then vacuuming them out.I originally got it to tidy up rubble when I was doing the house up but the missus even replaced her Dyson for this.

I just use the spare Dyson battery thing we have, think it is a V7, gets around 20mins of decent suction time.

We have a Dyson V7 trigger which has about 20 min suction time after a 3 hour charge. Does the footwells in conjunction with a stiff hand brush really well. BUT I wouldn’t buy one for full price. Got ours half price from Dyson when Aldi was doing a deal.
