I respect that this has been "reported" before.

Your report states that the Karoq is to be painted in Germany, Autocars report, albeit almost 4 weeks later, states additional  production is commencing in Germany to satisfy demand

Maybe the time differene has clarified the exact details of the earlier, albeit foreign story?

A link in the Autocar report from another website;

Interesting, but I think you'll find at the end of the day the very powerful Czech union Kovo will have the final word and only agree to painting rather than actual production, especially as there are now 2 Karoc production lines in operation at the Mladá Boleslav and Kvasiny sites.

Incidentally, the Kovo union has very recently agreed an overall average wage increase of 18.9%, resulting in the majority of workers earning at least £41,500pa, resisted the introduction of additional shift working, and declined Saturday working.

At that level of salary increase, I can see Skoda prices rising.

Fake news; unless you have a credible source for your statement?

A well paid factory worker probably makes 1500 euro / month in the Czech Republic. Which is just under £16,000 pa.

Later Edit:

https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/skoda-auto-kovo-union-reach-new-collective-labour-agreement/

The monthly figure works out at around £1559 (this includes higher paid jobs - management, R&D, etc.)

"The average salary of a ŠKODA AUTO employee covered by the agreement was 45,385 CZK in 2017."

I don't know about "fake news and credible sources" but I prefer to believe the announcements by the Czech employees' own negotiating body, rather than your own source emanating as a press release from ŠKODA AUTO which may well seek to play down the full actual agreement so as to lessen the impact elsewhere on wage bargaining in VAG.

The "18.9% overall average wage increase" is quoted by the Kovo union on 06/04/2018 here: http://www.odborykovomb.cz/informace-z-kolektivniho-vyjednavani/d-4779/p1=1008

The "resultant majority of workers" now earning £41,500 is derived from "earning over 100,000 Czech Koruna" in April (£3,461.90 UKP) x 12, (1 CZK = £0.0346216), again as quoted by the Kovo union on 19/04/2018 here:  http://www.odborykovomb.cz/podnikova-rada-schvalila-vysledek-kolektivniho-vyjednavani/d-4814/p1=1008

QED.

Whatever that is that is not a monthly regular wage; so multiplying that by 12 is where the argument fails.

Look up Skoda salaries on Glassdoor in the Czech Republic and you will see that 100,000 CZK / month does not even show up. A technician salary is 24,000CZK/month.

We shall simply have to agree to differ - you are quoting basic salary as against total emoluments.

Y3ti has a point.

Glassdoor states that a technician monthly salary is 24-26k CZK, a bit over 1k€ which makes sense.

Sadly, there's no way a Skoda factory worker, at Mlada Boleslav or else, makes  £41,500 a year.

100,000 CZK is a bonus for year 2018.

The very powerful Czech union Kovo looks like the company corporate union (the bosses' union).

The article sounds a lot like HR is talking, not the workers.

Like Y3ti said, the average (monthly) salary in ŠKODA AUTO in 2017 amounted to CZK 45,385 = 1775€.
