Also about to join the ex Yeti club, my leased SE spec 1.2 tsi DSG is about to go back

Today, I took delivery of a new Seat Arona Xcelence Lux 1.0 tsi (115) DSG

And it drives brilliantly, haven’t yet had a chance to try out many of the features, but liking it very much.

The downsizing was our choice, just 3 of us so do not need big car, and living on London-Surrey border the smaller size is much easier to park

Would have stayed with Skoda, but couldn’t wait for 2019 for their version (or is it a version of T-cross) to come out

Quick, update, the Arona is brilliant, obviously is not as bulky as the Yeti and although it has now only done 300 Miles (so engine is still tight) I am already getting 43-48mpg (on same commute that Yeti did 37-40mpg)

Couple of minor cost cuttings have been discovered compared to Yeti: no interior light in back, no rear ventilation vents etc.  Generally there is less features in the back, as size probably means not expected to carry adults long distances in back.

However has its own simply clever that didn’t exist on a Yeti SE such as start stop which restarts when car in front moves off (must use ACC or front parking sensors)

Still getting to grips with the infotainment, there’s lots of features new to me, such as individual mode, blind spot detection etc.

Is it perfect, almost but not quite. The multiple spec levels, but no options seem to have resulted in some odd spec choices, such as leather/alcantara seats only with 18 inch wheels.   The 1.5 tsi is manual only (would have preferred a 1.5 DSG).  If Skoda sell an L&K version of its equivalent in 2019 then it will make the perfect small car for those without children (or whose children have left home).

Best of luck, enjoy, nice looking motor ,sat in one at the dealers found it seats a bit lower than the yeti and a bit gloomy inside for me but it will proberly evolve into something nice.

Continuing to appreciate the good natured and informative nature of the thread.

Shall continue looking in and taking notes.

Have nothing to add myself as still have the same Yeti.  The only possible fly in my small pot of ointment is that I worry the DSG might cause me great, and unannounced, expense some day. The older it gets the less likely Skoda will offer any goodwill should the DSG fail spectacularly (in fact, in truth, I guess the likelihood of goodwill probably went ages ago).

But still enjoying and appreciating it very much.

Agreed.  It shows that we can, if we try, be nice to each other, despite differing opinions
