Nokia Hands free kit

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have just recently bought a 2011 Superb with the Bolero head unit, the car has an aftermarket Nokia bluetooth device fitted and hard wired into the wiring loom at back of stereo, although this does work and I can answer my calls etc, I cannot pair my phone directly through the car stereo as designed, do I just dissconnect the cables that are slipced behind the unit and reconnect them to get it working again or is this a technical process.. advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

If there is an aftermarket bluetooth kit, the car probably doesn't have a factory bluetooth kit installed.

When you say you can't pair to the Bolero, exactly what happens?

Yes it does but i feel that maybe it was a company car and the phone may not have been compatible, it has the bt handsfree setting on it

It is possible that the Nokia kit used an external speaker, which has been removed. However, it's also possible to wire the Nokia speaker output to the input on the headunit, which will then use the car speaker for the call.

It is using the car stereo speakers for the call but I assume that when you pair the phone normally with the head unit as standard that all the names on your phone will be shown on the screen?? Or am I wrong???

The Bolero doesn't have Bluetooth. The car may (most likely may not) have Bluetooth fitted in the form of a module under the drivers seat. No Bluetooth module, no factory Bluetooth (hence the handsfree kit).

Again I am thankful... I am assuming that mine is the Bolero... it has the large touchscreen 6 disc multichanger with sd card slot

Correct. And no Bluetooth built in.

I am learning loads here... just been out and had a look through the settings.. it has an activate Bluetooth setting.. is that just for show?? Again I am just curious.. why put the option there if it does not apply??

The option is there because the Bolero (like all the other OEM units) is designed to work with the OEM Bluetooth kit which can be installed in the car.

Ok that explains it... so where do I get one of these units and are they difficult to install???

They're pretty simple to install, cost from £50 or so for an old unit which doesn't support Bluetooth music streaming and newer phones etc. to maybe £200 for a fully functional unit with support for all the latest phones and tech.

It's not a simple answer really, as it depends what you need.

I have just changed to Skoda from my Mondeo.. it had full comparability with my phone through the stereo and mfsw.. just want that

If you look under the drivers seat see if there is a factory Bluetooth module there - it may have a black plastic cover over it (assuming it's the same as an Octavia from that year).

I had a Bolero in my Scout with factory Bluetooth and it took repeated attempts to try and get My Samsung S7 Edge to work with it.  In the end I rang Vodafone and they told me to clear a few settings on my phone and hey presto it worked.  Only problem I then had was that if the phone ran out of battery whilst connected to the car you had to clear these settings again and repair.

I got a message to update my phone one day which I did and from there on in it worked flawlessly.
