Not so happy days

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Always seems something on this car but still happy with it

I just fixed the ashtray problem staying open but bodged it by taking spring out and opening /shutting manually

Anyhoo eml light has been on a month no loss of power it was diagnosed 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1 low output

Looked on fleabay etc and found used one (vrs) for £10 plus £5 postage used

He said works fine but different software same hardware?  Mines a 1.8t 20v 150bhp

He sent both sensors I put other one in cupboard

Mechanic came I bought some vw fully synthetic oil from asda

Purple 5l bottle £27 in store but £19 online shopping? ??

Paid the £19 got oil filter and mechanic changed everything for  £30 !! Deleted light and it's out atm

Drove to morrisons for shopping with windows down

Went to wind up rear left window and heard a Crunching sound

Window fell to bottom inside of door

Got home Googled how to take rear door panel off .easy enough  (changed front door  bowser cable last year )

Found it was a plastic broken cable block on runner apparently common problem

I think it was my grandaughter as the child seat is next to that window and she was messing about with buttons she probably left her finger on too long when window was shut and strained the block?

I did gorilla glue it but I've now bought one on ebay for £15 new unit without motor ( I would rather new than it breaking again )

Keeping me busy lol

Lmao not so great then. I f**ked up by using duct tape on the window at then trying to wind it down, having forgot I used tape..... whole window support assembly fell down so the window is stuck now.

Its a pretty good car but can be a pain sometimes I suppose. No more problems tho as I deleted O2 sensor, charcoal, etc from my stage 1 map.

Btw, yours should be 178hp, not 150?

A remap would benefit you a lot, makes the car feel so much better

I believe that before the MK1 vRS was released, there was a 1.8T at 150 BHP.

Yes mine definitely 150bhp I've always been worried about other things going wrong with remaps?  My boys got a 1.4t corsa he remapped it and says it's great but my mechanic friend said he'll bugger the engine up if thrashed too much big ends will go etc and new engine needed?

I don't know anything about cars really only what I've picked up.

Changed the regulation assembly easy enough though it works fine now and engine seems smoother with fully synth?  Maybe imagination?

I originally got the car cos I liked the look of the L&K cabin and big boot for carrying stuff also the speed isn't too sad so it was a compromise. Glad I did it though as it's carried a lot and nice to drive

Sakta did the window pull out of the bolted grippers on the assembly?  I  tightened them fairly well but not overly as didn't want to crack the glass

As long as the map is done properly by a proper tuner who knows what they're doing and you look after the car then the engine will not blow up due to mapping. My VRS was mapped before I bought it and I've done over 50k miles in it with no mapping related problems.

Yes I suppose a proper tuner should know his stuff
