Thinking of changing to a Kodiaq

Featured Replies

I think the heated windscreen is standard equipment on the Superb L&K.

At least on the Superb they let you add the heated windscreen and heated washer nozzles separately.

Annoyingly you have to have both together on the Kodiaq.

And another question for anyone who tows a caravan with one with factory towbar and electrics. On the superb towing preparation there was now charging or fridge power. Can anyone tell me from experience if this is missing or present on Kodiaq? Data on SUKs website seems non-existent.

As far as I could tell on the dealership demo there is a plug on either side this should show it. Am aware it's a superb rather than a Kodiaq but they use the same tow bar design as far as I can tell

The standard Factory tow bar currently on the Superb (and likely the Kodiaq as they are the same...) is a 13-pin plug attached to one side of the tow bar.  I believe they can provide dual electrics if you request them but you would need to double-check with your dealer.

Our Superb Mk3 has a factory towbar and it came with a 13-pin.  I think the dealer asked me which I required.  I only tow a trailer and have a towbar mounted bike rack so I use the 13-pin with a 7-pin adaptor for that.

Thanks. Pretty sure there is only one plug, a 13 pin one. It's old UK vans that have two separate plugs.  But just because the pins are there, doesn't mean they are wired unfortunately.

Check out this video, it's an Audi A6, but again the towbar itself is the same as the one Skoda use.

The guy had to have the dealer sort his factory fit towbar as it arrived set to European spec which meant not all of the 13 pins were active. They had to go back and do some additional wiring work, but this was a good few years ago now, hopefully they've sorted it.

Go to 1-minute in and he explains...

Thanks. I strongly suspect they haven't  sorted it, but here's hoping. It is rather a nice easy one compared to fishing about underneath on my Superb. If it needs sorting I'll do it myself as I wouldn't trust a dealer or towbar fitter to have a clue how to properly sort it. I have seen some horrendous work done to vehicle electrics by so called experienced towbar fitters. They may be very good at bolting on the bar, but some of them are clueless when it comes to electricity! I'm sure some are also good, but why risk it?

Thanks. So everything other than pin 12 is fitted. Pin 10 is there, as is it's earth. Lets hope it's ignition switched but I guess its not a big deal if not. More of a pain if unconnected inside the car of course, but fixable!

If you need additional ground clearance go for it, it's realy nice, while if only need it for driving on normal paved roads just take the new superb, it handles better on the road in general because lower centre of gravity, is more quiet at speeds because it's not an SUV, lower fuel consumption because it's not an SUV and you can get more powerful engines, because the 2.0TDI 190PS is only okay with a turbo-lag under 1700RPM, the 150PS doesn't have this but you notice the lack of power in the higher rev range (2000+ RPM) where the 190PS starts to shine.

I would have gone with the S3 with 280PS if i didn't need the extra ground clerance to access my country home.
