2014 Superb Elegance - ? No bluetooh?

Featured Replies

HI all

I have just collected by 2014 Elegance. It was listed as having "Bluetooth preparation" and I assumed it had bluetooh as I saw the phone button the centre console and steering wheel. However neither of these work. I have read bluetooth is standard on UK Elegance cars, but it seems mine has not got it. I have checked the factory option codes and it has this code "156 9ZG VWGROUP VTV Mobile phone interface with handsfree set".

Any thoughts? I feel the advert from the dealer was slightly misleading...

The Bluetooth module is under the driver's seat: slide the seat all the way back and pop off the plastic cover and it should be there.

Is the Bluetooth/phone menu available on the MFD?

Any aftermarket audio kit fitted?

Wouldn't "Bluetooth preparation" mean that the cables are available up to the seat, but the actual module is missing?

I'm not sure. I wonder if someone could check their option codes for a 2014 elegance to see what they have? I have the original brochure and it suggests Bluetooth is standard. I will have a look under the seat.

I’ve got a poverty spec ‘s’ 2014 and i’ve got Bluetooth...so should yours really

A 2014 Elegance has bluetooth as standard whether in Ireland or in the UK. What chimaera says above is what you should check/answer.

I also have a 2014 (facelift) poverty spec "S" model and it does have Bluetooth. The module for this is under the drivers seat - indeed as I have my seat fully back (hence big john) I sometimes kick it as I get into the car.

I've tried to screenshot showing bluetooth menus

Ah many thanks for the replies. I will go check of the module is under the seat. No aftermarket stuff is fitted from what I have seen. I suspect it may be a faulty module or may need replugging. Thanks again.

Note to self , time for a spring clean inside the car!

Bluetooth module under/front of the seat , and with it's plastic cover removed:-

Did you unplug / replug? I ask as my Bluetooth unit failed to launch one morning, despite 2/3 stop/restarts and an overnight stop. The Bluetooth menu had disappeared too. I unplugged the cable, left it for a minute or so and replaced it... and voila - it sprang back into life. Never had a problem before nor since.

If unit not working would bluetooth disapear from menu on dash

Yes, it would ... i.e. if you unplug the radio/nav unit, you'll automatically lose the audio/nav menu from the instrument cluster (no communication with the module)

That depends on its level of 'not working'. If it's completely dead then yes, it'd disappear from the dash menu and the CAN gateway would be complaining (though this will only show up in a diagnostic scan). The phone handling functions could be dead while the part of it that communicates with the other vehicle systems are still working so the car sees it and tries to engage with it normally.

The first thing I'd check is that bluetooth on your phone is working normally. If this is ok you can turn to the bluetooth module. Try unplugging the module for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. Clear all existing pairings and try to repair your phone. If this doesn't work, a fault scan with VCDS will probably be needed to see if there are deeper problems.

When I bought my Elegance spec second hand it had no Bluetooth. When investigating what it would take to retrofit I found there was a microphone, coding and the wiring under the passenger seat - just no module.

I got a 3C8035730D Bluetooth module with WLAN and A2DP, plugged it in, and hey presto, everything worked.

Talked to the (private) seller about this, he said he never used Bluetooth so he didn't want to spec it when he ordered the car new from the dealer. So the dealer got an Elegance trim car, and appearantely ripped out the module leaving everything else in place. I was amazed they didn't cut off the connectors with pliers...
