Apparently a recent survey says us Geordies identify most strongly with our home city, more so than any other major city dwellers in England :)

I too prefer preventative maintenance, but I also try to ensure I always have a backup plan . Working as Chief Engineer for a multinational telecomms company taught me that was essential to mitigate dropouts in service, and relying on one service provider would end in tears.

P.S. Your windows should have been held in place by rivets not rivits.

SW- for all the good the origonal RIVETS did, I'd suggest that it was rivits for all the good they did . The cure was to remove rivets and use self tapping screws.

And now back OT- OR site don't want to know.Suggest it's just a HSE breach. But as usual ,it's not what you know, but who. Met an old mate ( EX BT), with contacts and he's had a chat with his old bosses. Very interested on safety grounds ,as without knowing about interference OR would be responsible for any safety breaches, caused by poor installation etc. SW- I've always believed in the old adage-belt/braces ,and for emergencies-bit of string. Go back a lot of years to analogue transmission and you'll find that the main source of modulation (master oscillator ) had a main+standby and a reserve ,all ready for use at same time. And data circuits all refer to a national standard ( used to be 60K) to sync all FDM/PCM circuits to same frequency standard
