Music Output Quiet

Featured Replies

I've read a few topics about this but I think the information I need/want is fragments across lots of different posts/pages and I just want a concise idea of whether I can change anything.

I have a late 2014 Octavia Elegance without the Canton upgrade.  As soon as the volume gets over say 2/3 you can hear the output being messed with and it just won't get any louder, in fact it gets quieter.

I've read posts about the difference between MIB1 & MIB2 (I guess the latter applies to newer cars) and that this volume limiting seems to be less intrusive with MIB2.

What I'd like to know is of my unit is MIB1 (which I'm assuming it is) can I safely upgrade it to MIB2, is it a dealer only option or am I just stuck with a quiet system?

TIA Russ :)

In a word yes you can. My car came with MIB1 Bolero and now has MIB2 Amundsen. You’ll need a radio and a screen, the radio will need to have the Component Protection removed by Skoda, then the unit will need coding to work in the car. You can see the results in my thread here

Install is shown working on page 16 and the new screen is page 24 :)

Thanks Sasha, whilst it seems quite straight forward, I think it's something that's going to have to wait for a little while given the cost :D

I may double check exactly what I have fitted though as I've only made the assumption that I have MIB1, if I had MIB2 would it just be a firm/software upgrade?

A 2014 car is definitely MIB1 (unless someone's already been messing with it). MIB 2 came in with MY16 on cars built from the end of May 2015.

Oh well..... looks like I'll just have to clean my ears out a bit more regularly...... and/or use it as a really good excuse to install a sub/amp :tongueout:
