Boot not closing

Featured Replies

I recently bough OBDeleven pro.  One of the reasons I got it was to turn off the annoying beeping when you close the boot using the key.  It worked, but I've obviously done something wrong because now the button to close the boot isn't working properly.

If the boot's open, I press the button and nothing happens.  If I open the boot half way, press the button to stop it and then press it again, it carries on opening instead of closing.  If I close the boot manually and then open it again, sometimes it starts working again, I can open and close the boot normally, I've opened and closed it 5 times without problem.  If I leave the car for a while and come back to it, the problem has returned.

Does anybody have any ideas?  If anyone else has OBDeleven and an electric boot, could you compare the backup file below to yours?  Pretty please?

Cant help you about OBDeleven but I would personally restore the beeping and eliminete it the old fashionate way.

That beeping sound speaker is attached to the boot lid. And using some noise isolator around that speaker, can make that beep to almost disapear. Or you can just unplug it. I hardly doubt that your car would give any errors for unpluging.

I made sound deadening for my boot lid and now the beeping sound is so quiet that it won't disturb me anymore.

Thanks alf.onso.  I've tried re-enabling the beeping, but still no joy.:crying:  When I've got it working again, I'll see if I can find the speaker.

Do you every just wish you'd left things alone?

In case anybody else gets the same problem, I noticed in the VCDS options thread that mlt posted the output from his car.  For some reason the four clamping strips (whatever they are) were set to active and his were not active.  I changed mine and it's all good.

Happy days.

Mate you're a LEGEND THANK YOU IMMENSELY. Been dealing with the exact problem since last summer when I replaced my broken tailgate lock and had checked so much in OBDEleven and found nothing. You've totally made my day and then some!

Now I see the date of your posts and realize how improtant it is to some up with the right keywords to google haha.

Even though I own a B8 Passat now, this forum is just pure gold. Best community by far for solving car problems in my experience. Cheers guys!

No worries.  I'm glad I could help someone.  Usually it's me getting help from everyone else's posts, so it makes a nice change.

Thanks a million times to @RichTea77 , already replaced other motor and it did not help at all, then four clamping strips --> not active and voila!

Hi @RichTea77

I’m having this exact issue on my Superb. I’m using the OBDeleven app but cannot find the menu for the “clamping strips” if anyone has solved this with the OBDeleven app I would appreciate guidance of how to do this. TIA
