Rear washer not working - hatchback

Featured Replies

On hatchback where should I be looking for water leaking from a popped-off pipe to rear washer. Nothing coming out at all, even with nozzle removed (so not a blocked nozzle), but I can hear motor whirring. Front washer is fine, they share a bottle don't they? How easy is it to get to washer bottle to see if its popped off there, is it a tray remove job? Any advice appreciated, could just take it in but if its a simple fix ... ?

OK then, after I got home I looked in spare tyre well and oh, there's my screen wash, so figured it was just the pipe that had popped off the internal connector at the wiper arm. Ripped (carefully) off the trim and yes! My god what a weedy little plastic clip to hold the pipe end over the fitting. Re-fitted and added my own extra fastening - a small 12mm worm-drive clip. Solid as a rock now, that shouldn't happen again. Just got to dry out the trim and put it back.

Rear washer on my Mk III not working. I've taken off the jet, and still no water, removed boot trim  - all looks good with no leaks (I didn't want to remove the pipe from the rear wiper assembly as I it might then continue to pop-off). Front washers work fine (windscreen and lights). Does anyone know where the rear pipe connections are either in the engine compartment or along the length of the car (if there are any)?

Mine had stopped working and I asked the dealer how much to diagnose the problem and was told £110!!!!!!!! Needless to say I didn't take them up on their 'kind' offer.......

Same for me.Been trying to fix it couldnt find anything wrong with it.I suspect that it could be off from pump itself

I would urge everyone just to make sure the spray nossles aren't blocked on the back windscreen wiper.  They get *easily* blocked up with any gunk from the wash bottle or from hard water.  I recommend that everyone uses decent washer fluid and/or makes sure the screen at the top of washer bottle refill is there.  re: @vRSWitter - undo the jubilee clip and get a small container.  Then get a friend to activate the rear washer....I suspect you will get washer fluid out....if so, it is definitely the jet blocked.  If no fluid, then one of the junction pieces has popped off along the run from the pump to the rear washer.

I had a similar problem with my rear washer being bunged up, most advice on this forum is to use VAG screen wash, which I do but it still gets bunged up.

A simple solution I've found is to get some stranded electrical cable, twist a few strands together and work it into the nozzle, it should clear it, don't be tempted to use a needle in case it breaks

Hi all,

I've managed to clear a blockage on my newly purchased MK3 Octavia.

However the clip for the pipe that goes onto the back of the pump is in poor shape and flies off when the pump is activated

Does anyone have a part number? Struggling to find it

Thanks

Although to add to this... Looking at images for replacement motors I'm wondering whether this connector should be molded and maybe mine has broken off
