Slow Startup

Featured Replies

Hey ever since ive had my car (2010 FL Petrol vRS) its always for some reason started a little slow, like 5 seconds to crank from cold.

When the cars been running it fire almost instant.

Doesn't sound like its struggling, just slow.

Do you think it could be the battery? I'm guessing its the original one, its got FSH, done 67K

Also had an argument with my local mechanic about chains and belts. can we please confirm that my car has a Chain please?..................if not I'm gonna look a right ****! as he said the TFSI had belts, but I'm sure mine being a 2010 FL has the newer TSI. Also were the uprated tensioners installed in the FL's?

The 2010 FL VRS does indeed have a chain, not a belt. There is no way to tell what tensioner you have fitted with out having the engine stripped. They have constantly revised the tensioner and chains during the TSI life.

If needs be read the sticky at the top of the sub forum about the 1.8 and 2.0 TSi chain/engine failures, but beware it's a long read.

My car take a few seconds to start from cold, it's done it since a bought it so does not worry me

OK Cool, good to know!

I'm gonna stick a battery on with a better CCA, maybe try the one off my Rotary, as its a better battery, see if the starting improves.

It has been mentioned before in other posts that in similar issues the battery replacement solve starting issues.
