Jump start now lots of warning lights

Featured Replies

Had to jump start my 2007 skoda octavia after it was parked up for a few of months as I broke my arm so was unable to drive it. After starting the car I now have a yellow steering light, abs light, handbrake light flashing and beeping every few mins. I took it for a drive round the block thinking it might go off as battery was low but never did. Put the battery on charge overnight to give it a full charge and still same problem. Car still drives ok and still brakes ok but steering a little heavy and speedo has also stopped working and the fuel guage keeps dropping and rising every now and again even while engine running and car has half a tank of fuel. Any suggestions I can try before I take it to a garage? Checked all the fuses and they seem ok.

Think you might need to drive it for a bit longer while it relearns throttle position etc. if the battery has been totally flattened. Not positive though!

I'd try disconnecting battery for a few minutes then connecting it again.

I suspect it's a software corruption issue caused by the low voltage/starting/jumping.

Disconnected and left it for a few hours and still the same. Called the RAC, patrol said abs module not communicating after plugging in his scanner tool, scratched his head for a few mins, didnt bother trying anything else and said it was safe to continue driving even though ive got no speedo and all the warning lights still on??? So what do I try next? I read another thread on here with a similar situation and they found it was only a fuse that sorted it but all my fuses look ok...

The fuses look ok or test ok?

They all look ok and not blown.  Is there further tests I can do? any specific fuse number I should be looking for?

Did he clear/reset all the issues shown in scanner tool?

Preferably a VCDS diagnostic would be better in such occasions.

After clearing everything then disconnect battery for 30 mins and plug back to test.

Verify battery is full and after give a drive for at least 20-30 mins.

Maybe you'll get dime positive results...

He couldnt read anything of his scanner as he said it couldnt commnicate with the abs module. I havnt driven the car as wasnt sure if it was safe to do so with the abs light on plus the speedo does not work either. Im going to have to get it booked in to a garage. Any other suggestions I can try before booking into a garage?
