New Skoda Octavia MK1 VRS owner

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have recently bought a car and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Car is a Corrida Red MK1 Octavia VRS Hatchback. Looking quite standard but not entirely sure if it's been fettled with in any way or not.

Not sure if the car I've bought is known by anyone, or indeed has been owned already by one or more of you? there is a video ...tube of it. so it's sort of famous! On first impressions seems like a good honest nice example, few bits not quite right but will be tackling a few bits over the next few weeks and months to make it right and make it mine.

Reg is VU54 VOM however I have bought a plate for it and will transfer it over to it when it's looking pukka and right.

Loving it already many years ago my best mate had one identical on a '52 plate with a Revo chip on it then sold it to my dad who had it 6 years. I had fond memories of it and remember what a cracking car it was.

Have a few ideas on what to do with it which is what drew me to the site, there seems to be some clever switched on people on here which is good to know when you need to know how to fix something or just know where to look and start.

All the best lads and lasses.

Looking forward to living with maybe a future classic for a while, it could be the last car I buy for years.

I will try and add pics as and when if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Jules.

Hi everyone, quick update.

Sorted a couple of problems I had with it when I bought it and got it back home.

Central locking not working properly, interior light not working when drivers door open, light on dash when door is open not working, alarm not working, puddle light not working and electric windows had a mind of their own . Now sorted put a new electric window switch in drivers door and new drivers door lock switch and I think everything is now working as it should. As I had the same problems on my mk4 Golf when I bought it I thought it would be the same problem and it was, quite a cheap fix in the end.

Have a rattle and resonating at the front when you pull off which has been identified as the downpipie to catalyst which is worn and rattling, it's not blowing or leaking so that's good but I imagine it'll give up eventually.

Been cleaning the car today and gave the spoiler bottom of hatch and bonnet a clay bar, polish and wax and they look a bit better just got to do the rest of the car now. Getting some leather feeder/cleaner for it and try and keep it nice. Drivers seat where leather meets material has come apart and needs stitching so will look in to that.

Bought a Pipercross dry panel air filter for it, will fit it when I've dropped the oil and changed the oil filter after another 500 miles or so. Car has a cat back Milltec on it so may be tempted with a mild tune.......

Went out for a proper drive in it last night just for the crack as I've not been far in it yet, did about 120 miles or so all over Derbyshire, got in at midnight it averaged 38 to the gallon and it drives fantastic so I may just leave suspension standard and just put wheels off my Golf on it, 18'' BBS LM reps should look quite nice when it all cleaned up.

Got new front mats, new proper original front mudflaps and a new aerial. will order new badges not sure which ones to go for, needs a bit of paint front bumper is looking a bit faded and tired and drivers door mirror has lots of lacquer missing. So few bits to do yet to make it right and mine but loving it so far. Yhink it will make a nice car by the time I've finished it just needs a bit of love, time and money.

Got a plate for it too for when it's looking pukka and I'm happy i will put it on.

Pictures to follow. Happy days:)

You've certainly been busy Jules.  I must get out and do some cleaning!
