Welcome.

What is it a 1.2 TSI with DSG or something else?

If a 1.2 TSI then the timing chain could be an issue as there is a upgraded tensioner kit available.

If a DSG from 2010 there is a Service Campaign that might need doing if not already done,

'34 F7'.

If the car has been at a Skoda Dealership 5 times then they should know about the Timing Chain and the TPI on that,

as they should on the DSG Service Campaign.

Cheers it is a 1.2  tsi never makes the noise when it goes in but we did record it but there still not sure hence why I’ve tried here cheers

?

Have you spoken with the technician checking the car rather than the service desk staff, and did they not let you know about the issue with timing chains / tensioners?

Best ask again.

With the DSG, is there a sticker in the spare tyre well showing '34F7', and the software update done and the Synthetic oil changed to mineral?

I took the recording up on Saturday and played them to the technician/ owner he wasn’t sure, said he’d have to have it in again , never mentioned the timer chain tensioner to me, not sure if it’s a crap job because the cars still under warranty from them

Good that you have a warranty.

You will find the threads here on the Timing Chain noise and the TPI, or someone can link it.

So maybe just get back in touch and the master tech can get on with checking out the TPI, checking the timing chain, getting the warranty work approved and arrange a time.

?

Is it a used car warranty?

They will say probably that it is not broken so nothing to fix, and the warranty only covers failures.

But then if the timing goes out that is an issue, or if the chain breaks or tensioner fails that is a big issue.

So if the Warranty is not covering it, then you will need to look at getting Skoda involved if the car never had the Tensioner Upgraded

because they knoiw there was a Fundamental Design, Manufacturing and material failing, hence the TPI, and the upgrade they designed and manufactured.

I bumped the relevant thread.
