Dash Can Fitting Required please.........

Featured Replies

Mrs G's 18 Plate CitiGo requires a Dash Cam So I've bought her a Nextbase. Anyone in East/North Yorkshire fancy hard wiring one in for me please, on and off with the key. Tecccy stuff ain't my boat as I'll most likely set the car on fire.  Beer Tokens Cash, wine, whisky as payment. Any time, any day as I'm retired.  Anyone with a VCDS fancy doing some tweaks as well  would be great.

Thanks

Can anyone tell my please which fuse is  "Switched Live " or which fuse/holder to use. ( a photo would be helpful please )

I'm going to attempted to fit the dash cam over the weekend.  I have already informed the Fire Brigade of a possible call out

Thanks

I fitted one of the same to my wife's Mii. I used the provided cable and used the 12v power socket next to the gear shift. It is switched with the ignition so can be left ON. I router the cable by tucking it into the head lining at the top of the windscreen, I used a plastic spoon to hold it open until I had the cable in place then released it.

I then ran the cable across the top of the RH windscreen pillar using the same method and tucked the cable down the side of the drivers door seal, it peels back far enough to insert the cable. At the footwell I ran it under the carpet across to the centre console, there is just enough cable to allow it across to the socket on the console without any loops of excess cable. Good luck, it took me about 20mins.

I'm attempting fitting the Dash Cam to the Wife 18 plate CitiGo. I'm hoping to piggy back the rear wiper fuse.  Looking on page 118 of the handbook there are 3 fuses for the wipers

Fuse 6, Front and rear wiper system

Fuse 17, rear window wiper

Fuse 25 Windscreen wipers

Can anyone advise me please on which one should I use ?

Thanks AG

Thanks for the Video but I'm trying to fit one into an 18 plate CitiGo.

My 230 has both front and rear DC's fitted.

Another thing, there is no fuse box under the dash in the CitiGo. Totally stumped now.

There should be fuses around the dash somewhere, have You checked near the OBD socket? As that is where the owners manual states it’s located.

Found it thanks Jonny, thing is, I can't Gert the cover off and to gain access you have too be rubber man, 2 foot tall and thinner than a pencil.

I've given up for today. Its rather hot in Driffield and the GP is about to start.

Ag.

If you have a multimeter then check slot 12 to see if it’s switched or constant live.

i.e becomes live when the key is turned on. If it’s switched then then that should be fine to use.

Only caveat is It then depends on whether the camera has a parking mode where if it’s bumped when your not there then it auto starts recording. In that case if it has no internal battery, or a small capacity then it will need to be a constant live I think and not just switched.

What do the instatallation instructions say about power supply??

From the Citigo manual online (latest one) fuse 46 is the 12v-power outlet (AKA cigarette lighter). This is normally a switched live and would be useful to piggy-back off. You didn't show fuses 38-51 assignments in your photos...
