Best Value radio with BT for VAG group vehicles?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I know its not a Skoda (*puts on flameproof suit*) But.........

I've just bought a  '08 VW Caddy for work, and just wondered what the cheapest/best value option is for getting bluetooth fitted? Would love to go OEM and upgrade to steering wheel controls, but there is a budget involved!
I used the Amundsen+ in the Octavia, and a friend has a Kenwood touchscreen dooberry thing in his Transporter (yes that is a technical term I'm sure!). My only concern there is I really don't like the non-tactile nature of touch screens, I like to be able to look where im going when I'm changing radio station. So where would my options stand?
The van currently has the RCD300 unit if thats any help, looks similar to columbus/admundsen shape.

Hope someone out there has some good ideas!

The RNS315 is the same as the Amundsen + unit, but with VW branding. Would that be a possibility?

Possibly, all depends on costs. What would I be looking at for a 315 unit? (Or I guess I can bung in a amundsen without any issue??)

I did notice today that theres no 'slot' in the interior lamp for the microphone, so I guess id need another of those too?

I don't have anything, but looking on Ebay there's one with Bluetooth for £180. Will need a microphone, and a gps antenna, and possibly a code though which would need a budget of about £30 extra maybe. Then VCDS coding to make it work.

Thanks @Rustynuts I will take a look. If anything does pop up from yourself please let me know, not fussed if its a vw or skoda branding, as long as it'll work!

Is it just Bluetooth for calls you want?

Possibly audio streaming too, but mainly calls yeah. Just so if we get calls for work whilst on the road we can answer without pulling over.

Most aftermarket Bluetooth kits support audio steaming and are pretty easy to fit/remove -that's probably the cheapest solution.
