I have a problem - not a huge one - but it's annoying.  

 

We have Office 365 account at work and you can use this account to log into Office 365 on the PC and it connects to mail etc and allows installs of Office apps.

 

I also have a  Windows Phone which can log in Office 365 and connects nicely to calendar and mail and works quite well. The problem starts if I want to access the MS store on the phone (to say download a PDF reader) - it then requires a MS account.

 

The Office 365 account isn't a MS account. 

 

I do not want to use my personal MS account on a work's device.

 

Is the only around this is to create a new MS account (work) using different credentials? - Only thing is end up with another outlook.com email that is unwanted.

Give up on the Windows Phone, Microsoft has.

 

You'll probably find it would all work if you were using an iPhone or an Android phone. Microsoft have always support other mobile platforms better than their own. And as of about 6 months ago they've stated the Windows Phone is for the chop sooner rather than later.

The "Microsoft Account" is an administrative thing. It's just like having an iTunes account to access Apple store products. It's not confined to Windows Phones. You'll need a Microsoft Account to purchase any Microsoft products on any device (phones. PCs , laptops etc.)

 

Yes, it will create a new email address but you don't have to use that email address. Microsoft won't contact you on that address and if you don't give the address out to anyone then no one else will use it either.

 

Think of it as a means of logging into the Microsoft Store - a username (the email address) and a password.

 

But whatever you do, do NOT use your Office 365 email address for the Microsoft Account - that will cause endless confusion in the future whenever you logon to anything. Create a new Microsoft Account, with a new discrete email address.

Exactly how id put it. I used to deal with Lumias on a corporate level and this was even the way we advised users to set them up... Technically it should work with your 365 account but...win 10 mobile is terrible
