My try on "Retrofitting Amundsen MIB1 (with Canton) with Columbus MIB2"

Featured Replies

I’ll definitely tell you what I have now which is an Estate with Gemini’s if that’s any good to you? That’s this afternoons job. Need to charge up my OBDEleven phone first :)

Yeah, that's what I have

No worries then, will post up the coding later on :)

5F, bytes 0-2: 03 73 51  (And they're (now) the same on my Amundsen & Columbus)

Decoded (with the help of latest VCDS, former one did not have these readymade):

Byte 0: Brand, 03 = Skoda

Byte 1: Class & Generation, 73 = Octavia  (84 = Superb)

Byte 2: Model & Derivate: 0x = Basic, 4x = Scout, 5x = vRS

and the last bit: 1 = Limousine (Hatchback), 2 = Combi (Estate)

Couldn't find anything about changing the rims (or color of the car).

Thanks for that, it seems my VCDS cable is ancient so I don't get the long coding helper, need a cable upgrade!

The 2019 maps update was successful!

Thank you!

Instructions worked nicely & 2018/2019 map update is now installed. There's just new fault codes which won't clear up - but everything seems to be working.

I suspect we bought from the same guy. I spoke to him about the cp errors on other modules and we have to live with them, it's due to them flashing a hacked version onto the unit, apparently mine is an Audi unit with Skoda software on it. On the plus side they remove the map restriction which is normally 3 updates.

@macrothanks for that, really helpful :) @Dave77 sorry I've not gotten around to plugging the OBDEleven in, but the answer is there now in any case.

Official Hex-V2, so far being worth every penny.

Yeah we did, he just had bad luck with me and stopped responding at the wrong moment :)

Mines the old Hex-can version, had it 10+ years! Got a Hex-net cable yesterday so I should be able to update the car display with that when I work out how to use it

Hi all.  For a few days I took a Harman mib2 to retrofit the personal Octavia from 2014. I did cp off, I mounted on the car and I have no sound.  While digging, I found out that Canton only works with changing the amplifier with a second generation one.  I took Canton gen2 from a Tiguan, I did cp online, I did parameterization, adaptations and the sound is the same: mute.  I put my unit on a Superb with Canton 2 and it works like a razor, I put it on a B8 pass with an amplifier, it works like a razor.  To me it stays silent, the volume appears at maximum and the volume button has no effect.  Does anyone have any ideas what I might try?  Thank you in advance for any idea.
