Different type of TT lower brace?

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone has fitted one of this style before at all?

I purchased it a few weeks ago but my axle stands are all holding my mk1 golf up at the moment so haven't fitted it

I assume riv nuts are in order but I've searched on here and only found the flat bar type on the Leons fitted

its for the front of the car. the Octavia has a very strong slam bar and wont need that, also i dont think it will fit anyway . you can get a OMP strut brace to go between the front control arm bolts that stiffens it up a good bit

Most people (including myself) have fitted the following lower strut brace without any problems:-

Audi TT Front Lower Strut Brace ....8N0-199-403B (Fitted with the glued on foam side facing downwards, I believe to reduce vibration).

Captive Nuts............................N-909-147-01 (2 off required)

Bolts.........................................N-104-879-01 (2 off required)

The captive nut fits in the existing hole in the front sub frame, when you assemble the brace to the sub frame (holding it in place) as the bolt is tightened it

compresses the nut body causing it to barrel thereby holding it in place.

Ah dam it, I thought I was on to a winner with this.

I cant even picture where it would go now its been said it goes on the slam panel

I know the search function on here is pretty crap, but a lot of answers to questions / ideas etc are here you just have to dig

deeply and have buckets of patience.

Anyway I found a picture of the Audi lower brace (thanks to Bowders), as you can see its just a bar bolted at each end with a strip of foam

on the lower side.

No I found that one already several times, I meant the one I purchased, I've not even been able to find a pic of it in its original location on a TT

yea i looked into this before the panel is very weak on the tt and needs this bar. omp make a nice bar to stiffen up the sub frame along with the audi tt brace on the subframe
