Kodiaq vRS all but confirmed

Featured Replies

Red wheels? I'm out :D

60 / 70 UK NSL's and they all do 70 mph at the same speed & travel at about the same average speed, no matter if 150ps or 240ps.

You might not what to go any quicker than 70 with 4,5 or 6 passengers or loaded up anyway or 60 towing.

If you are just alone or with a drivers mate then maybe something with room for more cargo will do.

'Cloak of invisibility as well.'

So no New News,  just Autocar doing its Skoda promotion job.

Autocar just runs an old article or a rehashed one.  (Comments in the article same a from June.)

The rubbish about the vRS Octavia TDI 4x4 speed when there is no current such new car to buy.

Will be interested to see how much an extra 15bhp, race blue paint, big wheels, a spoiler and two vRS badges will cost.

How come?

I think it was Autoexpress (or just another UK magazine), who just revealed: virtual display, full LEDs, Skoda Boost (or whatever) Sound Management. More M3 sounds (from exhaust or speakers, not clear).

3 weeks to wait until premiere.

No matter what, I am going to get one.

How come what?

Autocar, What Car, Pistonheads owned by Haymarket Media Group.    VW Group are a Haymarket Media Group customer.

If anyone knows anythiing about new models more likely to be Autocar / What Car as they are the favoured ' leaking journal'.

Autoexpress will just say or print any rubbish and are much the same for re-running articles that might or might not be based on truth.

Anyway, we will see what we see when we see it and Skoda can say the price and when available in the UK.   Maybe now they can say the price of cars already supposedly in production that are not a vRS and when people can get those cars.

People with deposits down now as an example.

No offence, Offski.

Price would be the most interesting thing. Below 40K eur? Above 40K eur?

Seen 240 HP Tiguan Allspace lately. Really nice one. 46K eur, but far more equipped than Skoda ever could be.

Price is important, anything with a list price here in the UK of more than £40,000 GBP get's hit by higher tax. Not a huge amount, especially when you consider you're already paying £40K, but for some reason a lot of people get hung up on tax, despite its relative insignificance towards the overall running costs of the car over the same period.

Virtual Cockpit is already a cost option on other models, full LED headlights are standard on all but the base model.

The noise generator is to be avoided, most people with the Octavia vRS turn it off. A fake 'sporty' engine note is played through the cars speaker system

So, as mentioned earlier, what Skoda UK will do to make the vRS 'special' is yet to be seen, but I suspect it'll be largely cosmetic.

It'll no doubt look great but I fear it'll be no better than a slightly thirstier SportLine.

It is still 240 HP.

And you can tune it up to 300 by Superchips.

For me, 500 Nm torque is the game maker. Towing all the time.

For the UK the max speed limit will stay as 70 mph, and in England and Wales or even Scotland or Northern Ireland 100mph & plus can lose your licence and job so as much as

there will be vRS leased and some bought by individuals it makes little difference if it has 240ps.

Then when towing the limit is what the Weight plate says and will still be towing that at about 60 mph with the big wheels and low profile tyres,

all that style driving the miles and really nobody is that impressed, it is a Skoda, just an expensive one.

For Towing / Launching the water craft, taking the Caravan, Car Transporter across grass or tracks or just for winter time decent tyres on smaller wheels will be the first mod needing doing.

Not many will be seen towing a mini digger, generator or compressor or even a horse box or Sheep transporter.

BiTurbo Twincab pickups or or others maybe the better choice.

Half the power of the Audi RS Q5, but half the price too.

Still think I'd rather have the Kodiaq vRS!

Audi RS Q5

You do realise those are all pictures of an SQ5? And as far as I'm aware, there is still no confirmation that an RS Q5 will ever exist. Most of the articles I've seen are now 12-18 months old, and expected it to be revealed 'imminently'.

That's not to say it won't happen, of course, just that it doesn't look like it will be any time soon.

Problem I see is that At £40k Skoda are competing with Land Rover Discovery Sport which also has a 240bhp motor available.

Yes, but what you’ll get in a £40k Skoda is far greater than what you’ll get in a £40k Land Rover. It’s top of the range vs bottom of the range, or thereabouts.

The size of the engine is not the only thing you should compare when looking at cars...

There is a reason that JLR, Volvo and others are dropping diesels, and then VW Group doing the usual and get as long as they can out of engines they will also discontinue by letting Seat & Skoda have them.

If they are what you want or need then as well to go with the flow.

That might have been the case in the past but I don’t think it necessarily holds true today. Take some time out and play with some of the on line build apps on manufacturer websites.

Not everyone wants the same from a vehicle and not everyone changes cars every 3 years.

Some of the tech stuff being fitted today is turning them into mobile computers. That raises the issue of support of the software beyond the warranty period. Witness the grumbles over updates or lack Thereof for integrated sat Navs in some makes.
