Battery problem

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I do apologise for this. Maybe there is another topic exactly like this but onestly I'm new here.

I have an Octavia mk2 1.6 Fsi 2006 and I have a baterry problem... (My first car)

About two weeks ago my baterry was dead. I spoke with one guy from a service and explained the situation " when I tried to stat the car the lights on the dash whould come ON and a " ticking " sound and that's it and the battery life indicator was black". That guy advised me to buy a new baterry witch I did, but after another 6 days it died again this time not even the lights in the dashboard didn't came on. Went back to the same guy and he came to jump start me and took some measurements. His multimeter was showing with the engine on a value fluctuations between 13.8 - 14.2 V even when I was accelerating and he was saying that the altenator is the problem.

Now... A week before my first battery died I've purchased form a gentleman ho took it off from his SKODA Yeti 2013 a Bolero 1Z0035156N and had it fitted since then. My old radio was a stardard radio/CD player 1Z0 035 161B.

Now... Maybe is just a coincidence, but is it possible that the Bolero radio is the problem???

What whould you guys advice me to do???

Did any of you encountered this kind of situation ???

Kind regards,

Claude

  • john999boy changed the title to Battery problem

It could be the known battery drain issues on older cars when fitting newer head units. Think you are affected. Take the stereo out for a week. Hopefully someone with be along to confirm this.

Yes it is the new stereo causing the battery drain, you need to get a newer canbus gateway and you be sorted.
