I feel a bit silly asking this and I'm not sure how to describe it.

 

I've got a 1.2 HTP and i recently took the "grilles" off as i'm considering installing front fog lights. After taking it off, i found a little pipe and i'm not sure what it does, and whether there should be a filter/something put on it? 

 

I've included a picture to help show what i'm on about.

 

She needs a bit of a clean, so please don't judge!

 The  (left hand) threaded one that your towing eye screws into?

Wino was absolutely correct. It is the threaded towing eye socket. You should have the towing eye in the boot compartment, under the false floor. It is a silver metal hoop, with a reverse thread on, a bit like a giant cup hook. Most owners don't recognise them as they tend to use the towing eye on the rear of the car, to pull a mate out of trouble but seldom need to use the front one and get towed! You often see a permanent one on the front of Corsa's.
