Clutch pedal

Featured Replies

I have been reading a lot of topics on this but just want to get an answer to my own to see if anyone else has had similar.

Recently my clutch pedal has shown signs of problems, going into the floor and having to hook it back up with my toe etc, master cylinder I thought, called mechanic yesterday and he advised me that it was more likely to be the slave cylinder, 2.0 diesel so it is internal in the gearbox, so I would like to hear from anyone that has had similar issues and how did they diagnose theirs???

Strangest thing is that I dont seem to be loosing any fluid and no leaks visible, again this could point to slave cylinder but the resivoir level would still go down either way, huge price difference in both jobs of course.

Thanks in advance

If your clutch hydraulics are the same as my 2L diesel Eos I would check it is not a problem with your clutch pedal return speed restrictor. I removed the internal restricting valve from it's housing to improve pedal return speed  and feel. It was a an easy job, valve is in the hydraulic clutch line above the gearbox and just below the side of the battery , if my memory is correct. You will need to bleed the clutch.

Could be early symptoms of infamous clutch failure that leads to major damage of bell housing.
