zenon headlamp bulbs

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me why the owners handbook states that Zenon bulbs should only be changed by a dealer? Hopefully they wont need changing for some time, as I presume they last a lot longer than ordinary bulbs, hope so for the cost of them. Any info gratefully received.

I have just got my Carisata reader, so will be having a play on Sunday, cant believe there wont be a couple of questions. Cheers everyone.

Xenons use high voltages and the capsule is under high pressure too so it's just a safety warning.

A competent DIY'er should be able to replace them without too much issue, I certainly managed to. I'd remove the from the car for easier access and suggest safety googles on the off chance it shatters... ;)

Are we talking about plasma discharge units or quartz-xenon bulbs here?

I am talking about Zenon replacement bulbs. Which is what they are called in the handbook.

Thanks Langers2k, I assumed it was the normal manufacturers scare tactic.
