Octavia II headlight cluster jammed

Featured Replies

Unlike the earlier (2015) problem on here, the locking lever and white nut move and remove with no problem. But the cluster will not budge in the manner I am accustomed to. ie a gentle slide forward. I managed to pull it out with the help of trim tools and brute force but it will not reseat in its socket leaving a nasty gap for rain dirt and all else to get in.  Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I had bovveration getting the body of the lamp out before, last time I switched the lever over for continental driving,  used a teflon spray to lube it before putting back in hadn't had it outsince as I used beam bender stickers for ease of conversion back to UK requirements.so wether itworksornot is unknown.

Can anyone say if it's possible to get lense covers to put beam benders on ,to convert to continental mode, much easier to pop covers on and off

I've just left ours on "flat".

Due to the many issues I've had with both headlights, one of which happened on day one of a 3 week Roadtrip through France and Spain, I left my headlights in the 'flat' position.

I was a little apprehensive about them being in this position and not fitting beam benders as during my first three years of ownership I would regularly get flashed by oncoming cars at night.

First thing I noticed on the drive down through England, didn't get flashed once by oncoming vehicles, and no issues in France or Spain either.

So they've remained in that position for the last 5 years, and went through four Mot's with not even a comment about them.

Still can't completely remove the headlight cluster, and the locking mechanism doesn't work as it should; the white locking nut stays on the black bolt, which in turn unscrews from the back of the headlight cluster. To secure it, you have to blindly locate the hole the black bolt is supposed to slide through, then tighten the white plastic nut.

Skoda. Simply Clever.

Exactly my experience Fin69 (3 years in my case).  Frankly I got so fed up with manhandling the buggers out that I just left them on flat and, like you, no problems here on on the continent and no MOT issues (tested last week).
