Hi, My wife has a 63 plate Fabia Mk2 monte carlo 1.6TDI and has started playing up. 

1st the minor issue - the fan only works on position 1 or 4, I am hoping this is something I can do myself, has anyone had this issue in the past?

 

The second and much larger issue is the fact it keeps going into limp mode but can sometimes drive fine. I bought a diagnostic tool and it has come up with the following:

First is (Probably) the rectifier as they fail and usually, they end up with only 4th speed coming on. There are many threads on this and they are cheap enough on eBay. 

 

As you have noted the codes, have you thought of clearing them, removing the battery for a while and then trying things out again?
