Electric problems with a Fabia RS mkII

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

Yesterday we tried to change the original headlights for a LED set. We removed the front bumper and the headlights to have more space (Obviously it's necessary to also disconnect the DRL LEDs).

We tried first with one side, worked fine and we installed one DRL (or anti-fog light) just to compare the color. We had the LED installed at the right side with the right DRL. At that moment we noticed that at the rear-left light wasn't working, and the same for the left number plate light.

We finished the installation, plug both DRL, both headlights fitted and.... None of the DRL were working and the problem with the rear lights was still there.

So now the rear left light and left number plate light aren't working, as well as both DRL. (I changed the bulbs with the other side and nothing happened, so it isn't the problem)

Any Idea about the problem? What could be causing it?

Cheers!

So it is your 'Side Lights / Position Lights'  & Day Time Running Lights not working.   (Not Anti Fog Lights. There are no Fog or Anti Fog Lights)

So DRL's that should be on with the Ignition, just the front.  Or Sidelights front and rear with the headlights on.

?

Does your car have a DRL on / off switch in with the fuses, & is it still at on?

Have you checked the fuse for the Side Lights / Position Lights / DRL's.

?

If you put the indicator stalk down with the ignition off does the Parking Lights come on, one front side light and one rear sidelight and one rear number plate light?

Hello!

Yes, Side lights / position lights and DRL.  It doesn't work either as DRL or position lights.

The vRS doesn't have the switch.

Ok, I just tried putting the indicator to each side:

Indicating the left side: nothing happens. It doesn't turn either front or rear position lights.

Indicating the right side: The rear light work as expected and also turned on the front light! :o I was surprised.

After that, the front right started working as position light but not like DRL.... really strange.

Cheers!

You may well find a blown fuse, replacing it may restore left side front and rear. Can't quite be bothered to look up which number fuse, sorry.

I hope that is the solution. Any idea which one?

I tried some of them today without success :/

Cheers!

Can't find such a fuse. Looks like I was wrong.

Looks like it might be a BCM/Onboard supply control unit - J519 problem. Seems to be a vulnerability with recent-ish Skodas, especially when people try non-standard bulbs.

The output shown from T73a/41 goes to left front side light (M1, shown), left rear tail lights (box with 273 inside goes there) and left numberplate light (box with 299 inside goes there).

If that output isn't working, it's consistent with what you're seeing (not seeing) on the car.
