Anyone know much about minis?

 

I got a 2012 R55 petrol cooper clubman recently.

 

The fan seems to come on at the drop of a hat. Bit of googling seems to point out that this is relatively common but mine doesn't quite fit the described symptoms.

The fan seems to some on shortly after starting the engine and goes off when you stop. Most reported problems have the fan run on for 30+ sec after switch off.

 

Problem or characteristic? Used car has 6 months warranty but don't want the hassle of taking it in if it's just the way minis are.

I assume the a/c is switched off.

I would guess that the A/C is switched on.

Rad fans tend to be triggered by refrigerant pressure as well as coolant temperature in cars with A/C in use.

It's got climate control so the A/C is lit most of the time. I'll need to try without ta.
