Spoiler repair help

Featured Replies

I recently bought a 2007 vRS with a missing chunk from the spoiler (He knocked bikes onto it from a roof carrier). I would quite like to try and repair it myself if its possible. If anyone has attempted anything similar before or has any advice it would be appreciated. I'm not really sure what I should use to fill in the hole. If anyone is selling a blue spoiler that might also be a good option.

Thanks.

they're bolt on and off items, you'd be better off buying a replacement and getting it sprayed up  or finding a second hand one in the right colour

Aerodynamically it won't be impaired.

If you're concerned re aesthetics replace or DIY.

A DIY repair may be large self tapping screws into the damaged area, left protruding to provide a key for fibreglass filler or similar.

Sand and prep as required prior to spraying with a can.

Theres a few blue ones breaking on ebay at mo, also aint there one in the breaking cars section at the moment

If you plan on repairing it; open the boot and take a look at the side profile of the spoiler where it meets the boot lid.

The paint on my spoiler is crack and wrinkled on both sides at the point it meets the boot lid, not entirely sure how it came to be like this. It's only noticeable with the boot up and if you're looking but it's led me to look in to changing the rear spoiler as opposed to repairing a small paint chip on the top.

I'd hate to have repaired the chip only to find that the whole spoiler could use a respray.
