MISFIRE - Difficult to troubleshoot-need help

Featured Replies

Really need to sort this misfire out. Please advice

Octavia 1.6FSI. Misfires when at idle- has been for about 6 months. No codes on VCDS#

At that time - changed all spark plugs, one ignition coil in cylinder one, fuel filter, service –oil and air filter.  Misfire like problem of running lean remained at idle only.

Now over last two weeks. When reeving around 250 jittery, hesitation (between 200 to 2800rpm) .

Took it to a mechanic, he drove and reeved hard in 2 and 3rd gears and engine management light flickered and then came on permanently – VCDS scan misfire in cylinder 1 and intermittent misfire

Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

P0301 - 008 - Misfire Detected – Intermittent

He changed all plugs and ignition coil in cylinder 1 no change in behaviour.

Reeved hard and misfire again came up.  He swapped ignition coil to cylinder 4 but still the same. No air leaks detected. Compression test in all cylinders good.

Only thing which affects is ---Misfires GETS Worse when air con is on.

Please advise what would you consider next best step :

OPTION A- strip the manifold and look at injectors

Or

Change the wiring loom and/or rest of the ignition coils before doing that..

Any ideas...

Really want to fix this rather than dispose the car…

I noticed, from cold start, no misfires, when reaches operating temp, then problem starts and with air con on gets worse
