Rumbling noise

Featured Replies

Had a rumbling noise which sounds if coming from o/s/f. Took into local garage, mechanic came out and listened and agreed with me if could be the wheel bearing, got if booked in and changed bearing which was on its way out but car is still making the rumbling noise. Anyone else had this issue.

Hi Willie.

So easy to guess at CV or other things, but are you sure your front tyres are OK, that one on the o/s/f.

Obviously the sidewall was seen, but has there ever been tyre weld in the tyre.  I once got got out with a mystery rumble and that was all it was, a golf ball sized rubber ball in the tyre.

Next thing is was that wheel bearing replacement done OK and the bearing is not crushed?

Had a prob with that CV joint a while back, it was changed about 2 years ago but I suspected that the boot was split as there was grease on the inside of the wheel but not there anymore. Could it be that as I want to go back to garage with an idea what it could be. There was an advisory on something to do with the o/s/f but canny remember what, I'm up in Tain for weekend so don't have my MOT to hand, selling car soon so need it sorted.
