Bird Poo Protection.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently moved house and for the last couple of days have been wiping bird poo off the car left right and centre.

Does anyone know if there is any products like a wax that I can apply that will save the paintwork a bit, or is it the case I am going to have to regularly apply a wax or a polish at every wash I tend to to every two weeks.

Thanks in advance.

Davy

Nothing will repel bird **** off your paint, wax your car using any wax to give it some protection and NEVER let bird crap sit on your paint, remove it as soon as you spot it to avoid damage

Thanks, thought that might have been the case, will just keep on doing what I am doing wiping it over when I spot it!

A layer of wax will definitely help as the deposit will sit on that layer instead.

I had some to remove on Friday; quick spray of QD and then just wiped off. 1 min job.

A pack of Autoglym bird dropping wipes in the glovebox are handy when your out and about and your cars been pooped on.

I didnt get along with them, I find that they are not ‘moist’ enough to pick up the bomb without scratching the surface

I keep a qd spray and a microfibre in the boot for when a whoopsie lands on my car.

I carry a bottle of this in the boot for such occasions;

Of course it also helps that I have two coats of Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax on the car!

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Get rid of it at source.

Culling vermin with a high power air rifle is not only very therapeutic, but it also keeps your cars / conservatory roof clean.

We used to be plagued with dozens of pigeons.

Not any more.

Aye we have a carehome behind the house and that’s the source of the problem, plus the neighbour two doors down feeding them fish!

My  car went in for its first MOT today and a brake fluid change. 'DO NOT WASH' was clearly annotated on the jobsheet as is customary for me, together with the Carbon Collective window hanger.  I dropped it off clean last night and cycled home.  When I dropped the key off this morning, there was a 2p sized bird poo on the bonnet.  When I went to pick it up lunchtime, said bird poo was still there.  A good sign it hadn't been washed

After the new kid had dealt with the paperwork and got in a pickle with the card payment machine, we went out to my car.  I paused momentarily to grab my bike and stay out of the way of a spatially challenged multi-point turner, only to see the car cleaning chap from Kia, next-door, 'helpfully' rubbing said, baked on poo, off with a dry rag! :wall:

I've kept a round silicon type seal from a broken tupperware type tub.  Lay that around bird poo and fill the well I've just created with warm water.  Leave it for a few minutes and most bird poo simply rinses away.   Stubborn bits get copious amounts of water and as little physical contact as possible in their removal.

You could try to minimise the damage. Use a QD to moisten damage then lift away. Another suggestion would be a sealant such as Collinite 915 or FK1000p, a couple of layers will last ages and make cleaning your vehicle a little easier (watch the droplets fly off). The tin will last you ages as a thinner layer the better. If not tackled quick enough the bird mess  can etch the paintwork.

Hope it helps
