If you can, test drive it before making any decision. At that price and mileage, bits will probably be starting to wear out, so allow for that. Interior looks tatty, but the outside doesnt look awful from what the pictures show.

The 1.9PD engine is very reliable, i'm sure some would say it is one of the best engines VAG have produced.

But really, the test drive is the important bit.

Also check that it has been serviced somewhat correctly.

Edit: Just noticed it has a tow bar on the back. Probably best to allow for funds to replace the clutch as a worst case scenario.

Too expensive for me that’s a 350/400 at best there’s VRS estates for that money pal just wait get a VRS

^^^Do not buy it then, let someone get it to drive into the ground as there is a MOT to June 2019. then they can get money breaking it for parts or trying for another MOT.

Ugh, that filth inside is disgusting. Dirty buggers!

Some people work in dirty jobs, wear dirty clothes and drive old cars that are disposal and cheep.

+1 Never made a mk1 fabia vrs estate

If its remapped you may get increased insurance costs as you have to declare it. Remapping does nothing for reliability. Does it have a service record of any length. Are there any invoices that go with it so you can see how it has been maintained.  Has it had any bushes replaced, brakes done, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, brake pipes..new springs.....you know, all the stuff we know that an 03 car with 150k miles on it is almost bound to have needed at some stage. You also have to wonder how it will cope with the latest diesel emissions test as that is throwing up a few wobblies.

Its well worth paying a bit more for a car with a good audit trail of repairs and maintainance. When I buy a car I just stand back a bit and look at the car holistically and ask "What is this car telling me about how its been used " as well as getting up close and listening to engine/gearbox/ suspension clonks/steering graunches. Its always a minefield at this price point as you know that an 03 car only has a short life ahead of it statistically.
