Rear Guards bumper strip

Featured Replies

Hello, I thought I would post a pic and a few comments of this stainless steel bumper protector on my FL superb. I was a bit surprised at the level of 'bling' this brings to the rear end :biggrin:. The quality/fit/finish and even packaging couldn't be better. Over the moon!

Mine is the stainless steel version for the FL combi;

looks like it's currently out of stock at time of writing though...

I have had one for five years and it still looks good despite a few scratches that would have been on the bumper  without this.

A word of warning though, the first one I received was so sharp it cut my thumb while applying it and there is no removing them without destroying the double sided adhesive strips or perhaps bending it.

I also sealed both ends with a line of silicon to prevent water being trapped and subsequently dripping down the bumper for hours after washing.

If you do need to get one off, I used dental floss threaded behind the protector to saw through the foam of the tape. That way you don't need to lever the plastic and potentially bend it. Tie the floss around a screwdriver or something at each end to form a handle or you'll cut into your fingers too.... You can then deal with the glue residue with WD40 or some other adhesive remover.

Another caution - you may need to adjust the door stops to avoid the door hitting the protector - Skoda fitted one to my new Superb and forgot to do this, resulting in chipped paint on the bottom of the tailgate. They were really apologetic and paid for it to be repaired, so no problems there, but its worth looking out for.
