What Products are standing the test of time

Featured Replies

Going back through the forum there is a wealth of information where a number of users have generously provided detailed reviews and products over time. My question is which products are people still using and going back to having tested a variety or is it a case of trying new things hoping they will be better.

From a personal perspective I'm trying to reduce my stash and use products that work for me. I have a hunch that there are relatively few game changing products out there and the majority offer a very small gain over existing products or the law of diminishing returns

I'd be interested in people's thoughts on this

Meguiars gold class shampoo is my all time favourite

I still love Collinite 915 Wax. Not the glossiest but it beads well and outlasts many newer waxes I’ve tried.

Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour.  Wheels were treated once, when the car was new three years ago, and the alloys are still easy to clean

+1 for the Megs Gold Class too.  It's the one I keep going back to.

Gaz

Poorboy's black hole - was great on my DPB Golf R32 and still works great now on my Corrida Red Vrs.

A few products i have stuck with for a some time now....

Zaino Z6

Gtechniq G5

Meguiars APC

Autoglym Glass Polish

Auto Finesse Dressle

Infinity wax for me, have used them on five cars now.

Davy

These are the ones I always go back to, and rely on:

Colinite 845
BH Autowash
Sonax BSD

Poorboy's Black Hole Glaze

Jeff's Prime Strong (although I probably can't replace this one when I run out )
Menzerna polishes

All good products and deliver great results - no question on that.

Megs polishes though - just a bit dusty if over worked i find.

Some of the newer Sonax, Gyeon, Koch Chemie compounds are much lower dust

..plus longer working times too thanks to a much improved carrier system in the polish.

Worth a try if you get chance

The 105 is very dusty indeed

Ultimate compound is not as course but is very more user friendly you can mix a bit of ultimate in with the #105 to combat this a little

Same as ultimate polish or gold class is easier to work with than the #205

I love Gyeon Q2M Bathe+ for washing the car and when it comes to protection.....Valet Pro citrus tar and glue wipe down, and then my favoured method is Autoglym Super Resin for basic contamination removal, followed by Chemical Guys Blacklight and topped with with 2 coats of Zymol Glasur or Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro - Dependent on what i'm looking for in the finish.

Ive got a host of other bits I use and like but i havent got all night :D

Another one for me is my Dooka wash pad - bought through a group buy on here quite a few years ago. Amazing product which will be replaced with the same when it eventually gets retired.

For me it's:

Bilberry wheel cleaner

Autoglym Fast Glass

Carplan Tyre Slik

Autosmart Tardis

I've been trying various shampoos and snow foams so nothing long term yet but nothing smells as good as Meguiars gold class shampoo and conditioner
